Rijula Das

Consultant

A multilingual academic and award-winning writer

Rijula’s a natural writer and trainer, thriving on the exchange of knowledge during a workshop. She loves to help people clarify their thinking and find ways to make writing effective and stress-free.

Born in West Bengal, India, Rijula has also lived in Singapore, New Zealand, the UK, and now the South of France. With this experience, she’s expert at understanding the needs of diverse global teams. She always finds ways to connect, and uses her insight to adapt to different communication styles.

After a training or coaching session, she sees people’s confidence soar, and knows she’s given them sustainable skills that they can use straight away.

Offering writing training across languages and countries

Rijula has worked across academics, editing, publishing, literary festivals, and in government. She speaks four languages and is an experienced interpreter, literary translator, and employment dispute mediator. Rijula can travel for training in Europe or deliver workshops online.

When Rijula wrote her doctoral thesis on creative writing at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, she wrote it in plain language, rather than traditional ‘academic’ language. She says plain language leaves more time to focus on ideas — so you can clearly articulate your work instead of losing it in the weeds of complicated language.

Her debut novel, Small Deaths, won critical acclaim and was longlisted for several awards. Her writing has appeared in Lit Hub, Electric Literature, Newsroom New Zealand, and The Hindu.
