Most people are already using AI to help with writing. The challenge is getting quality writing that is clear, accurate, and fit for your audience.

In this practical half-day workshop, you’ll learn how to use AI as part of a structured writing process — so you stay in control of the thinking, the quality, and the result.

As with all Write workshops, the content is consistent with both:

• the well-known Write Plain Language Standard
• the international ISO Plain Language Standard 24495.

We don’t see AI purely as a shortcut to faster writing.

We show you how to use AI to produce better writing — by combining:

• plain language principles
• structured thinking
• and strong editing skills.

You’ll leave with practical techniques you can apply immediately — and a clear process for using AI without losing quality, meaning, or control.

Skills you’ll gain

By the end of this workshop, you will use AI differently. You’ll have gained several important skills.

1. Define the purpose, audience, key message, and desired outcome of a writing task before using AI, to support clear and relevant communication.
2. Select where and how AI can best support different stages of the writing process — including research, planning, drafting, revising, and editing — while applying human judgement appropriately.
3. Construct clear, structured prompts using plain language, prompting frameworks, and prompt chains to generate more useful drafts, ideas, and insights.
4. Evaluate AI-generated content for accuracy, clarity, tone, relevance, and quality, and revise it to meet the needs of the audience and your purpose.
5. Develop reusable prompts and personalised workflows that enable efficient, confident, and responsible use of AI in everyday writing tasks.

You’ll need an account with a generative AI tool, such as ChatGPT, Copilot, or Gemini.
