The workshop style is practical and interactive, with plenty of examples and time to practise ideas using your AI tools.

In this half-day workshop, we’ll explain the basics of how generative AI works for writing and how to enhance your role as the human expert.
After this workshop, you’ll have new strategies and confidence to use AI as a collaborative writing partner.
- Thinking — unlock your brainstorming partner, get help summarising long background documents or research
- Planning and personas — understand your reader and define key messages
- Writing — craft insightful, highly effective prompts to gather content and generate a useful draft
- Editing — polish with a professional approach based on the Write Plain Language Standard™ , a quality standard for clear communication.
We’ll also discuss potential risks and how to use AI tools responsibly.
Bring your device and an AI writing tool
You’ll need an account with a generative AI tool, such as ChatGPT, Copilot, or Gemini.

This workshop is for people in all sectors who write for work and would like to get the most from generative AI as a tool.
Perhaps you want to use AI tools for writing but don’t know where to begin. Or you may have recently started using AI tools for writing at work. In either case, you’ll get a lot from this workshop.
